Il Messaggero & Repubblica , 22 January 2016

Apple announced in a statement the creation in Naples, South of Italy, of the first iOS App Development Centre in Europe “to provide students with practical skills and training on developing apps for the iOS app ecosystem of more innovative and vibrant in the world”.

“Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and we're thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy get the skills they need for success," Apple CEO Tim Cook said, stressing the importance of human capital and recognizing the high level of education of Italian scientists and IT developers.

Born less than 10 years ago, the sector of applications for smartphones and tablets currently employs over 97.000 people in Italy, where purchases from app stores are worth 300 million euro. Apple alone has registered 264.000 developers in Italy, on a European total of 2.96 million, which so far have earned 10.2 billion Euros.

In Naples Apple will develop its project in partnership with “Federico II” University, as was announced by the the Chancellor of the University Gaetano Manfredi.

Italian Prime Minister Renzi said that the opening in Naples “will be a wonderful reality of innovation and apps, I think it will create about six hundred jobs, if I am not wrong”.
