Zambia and Egypt will soon sign a memorandum of understanding for the development of a joint farm project, an Egyptian official said on Friday.

Ahmed Mostafa, Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia, said the two countries will sign the agreement in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, for the establishment of a 1,000-hectare farm.

He said the farm will be run by Zambia's Ministry of Home Affairs and Egypt's agriculture ministry.

"This new giant farm will enable both parties to bring their cooperation to new horizons," he said in remarks made during the commemoration of Egypt's 66th independence celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian envoy further revealed that the two governments were working on increasing the number and scope of training courses being provided by Egypt and introduce more new ones.

Egypt, he said, has been providing training programs for Zambia students in various fields as the two countries attaches great importance to human development.
