Jazan Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Nasser laid the foundation stone for a grain silos and flour mill project worth more than SR 560 million at Jazan Port.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Fahd Balghonaim stressed the government's efforts to ensure adequate supply of wheat, flour and fodders at reasonable prices.
Walid Al-Kheraiji, director general of the General Organization for Grain Silos and Flour mills, said the project would have a capacity to store 120,000 tons of wheat while flour mill would supply 600 tons of flour daily.
"The project includes a laboratory to test the quality of wheat and flour," he said. Balghonaim commended the government for its continuous support to the agriculture sector. "Agriculture has now become an important sector of the national economy," he added.
