A monitoring supreme body at the High Commission on Riyadh Development (HCRD) said that the region is witnessing 2,980 projects worth a total of SR 264 billion. These cover all parts of the region, its provinces, and the following sectors: utilities, educational services, health services, transportation, economic development, public services and housing.
347 projects implemented in the public utilities sector in the capital have a cumulative value of SR 57 billion
The HCRD established a body called Follow-up Program for Riyadh Region Projects (FPRRP), which said 347 projects now implemented in the public utilities sector in the capital have a cumulative value of SR 57 billion. Projects related to water supply, electricity, sanitation and flood control constitute 29 percent of the total cost of the region's development schemes.
577 ongoing projects in the transport sector worth SR 24 billion
The 577 ongoing projects in the transport sector are worth SR 24 billion. They include roads, railways and airport development, while the educational services sector has 804 projects worth SR 54 billion. These represent 27 percent of the project value in this sector. The number of projects in health services, worth SR 8.5 billion, has increased to 127.
The objective of FPRRP, among other things, is to formulate a comprehensive vision for the development in the region through the monitoring and follow-up of all projects (public and private) in the region. It is to overcome any obstacles blocking the smooth progress of regional development.
The program constitutes one of the main mechanisms for managing development sectors across the region. It also coordinates between the implementing agencies and provides a clear perception to decision-makers and stakeholders about the projects.
The program's operation is based on a system that provides instant information on all the projects in various sectors, and conducts analyses on sectors, clusters development centers, provinces and the implementing agencies.
