Building permits issued in the country have increased by 90 percent in July compared to previous month, indicating that the construction sector continues to grow.
According to the 43rd issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates released yesterday by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, 729 building permits certificates were issued in July. A total of 402 building completion certificates were issued in July which was 55 percent more than the previous month.
Building permits and building completion certificates data is of particular importance as it is considered an indicator for the performance of the construction sector which in turn occupies a significant position in the national economy.
Al Wakrah comes at the top of the municipalities in terms of issuance of building permits as it issued 202 permits, accounting for 28 percent share in of the total issued permits.
Rayyan municipality came in second place with 172 permits, with a share of 24 percent, followed by municipality of Doha with 121 permits (17 percent) and Al Da’ayen municipality with 107 permits. Umm Slal municipality issued 56 permits, Al Khor municipality 39 permits, Al Sheehaniya municipality 20 permits while Al Shamal municipality issued 12 permits.
In terms of type of permits issued, the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constituted 60 percent (435 permits) of the total building permits issued in July , while the percentage of additions permits constituted 38 percent (279 permits), and fencing permits with 2 percent (15 permits).
In terms of new residential buildings permits data, villas topped the list by accounting for 59 percent (191 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 33 percent (108 permits) and apartments buildings by 5 percent (17 permits).
In case of building completion certificates issued during July, Rayyan municipality comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building completion certificates issued were 161 certificates, with a share of 40 percent of the total issued certificates while municipality of Doha came in second place with 89 certificates, having a share of 22 percent, followed by municipality of Al Da’ayen with 44 certificates (11 percent).
In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicated that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constituted 78 percent (312 certificates) of the total building certificates issued during July, while the percentage of additions certificates constituted 22 percent (90 certificates).
In terms of new residential buildings completion certificates data, villas’ topped the list, accounting for 59 percent (162 certificates) of all new residential buildings completion certificates, followed by dwellings of housing loans certificates by 37 percent (103 certificates) and apartments buildings by 4 percent (10 certificates). Comparing number of certificates issued in July 2018 with those issued in the previous month the report noted a general increase of 55 percent.
