The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources (MAFWR) announced the outcomes of its 2024 Food Security Lab, revealing 41 new investment projects across various sectors with a combined value exceeding $116.8 million.
Additionally, 66 new investment opportunities were identified, and 24 initiatives were introduced to strengthen food security projects, improve logistics services, and launch two platforms, ‘Tharawat’ and ‘Zad.’
The event, led by Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, H.E. Eng Saeed bin Hamoud al Maawali, alongside ministers and representatives from the agriculture, fisheries, water resources, and logistics sectors, also saw the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning sign 177 agreements worth more than $83.9 million for food security projects covering over 13,700 acres.
In the fisheries sector, 14 contracts valued at over $95.7 million were signed. The Advanced Boats Initiative was also launched to support artisanal fishing, providing Omani fishermen with advanced fishing boats designed to operate within territorial waters up to 200 nautical miles.
The Food Security Lab 2024 focused on attracting investment, enhancing local value, and advancing digital transformation in the sector.
