Oman has awarded seven critical projects in the roads sector, with a total investment exceeding $309 million (OMR 119 million). The projects, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, aim to enhance the nation’s infrastructure and improve road safety, tourism, and logistics.
The initiatives include:
- Construction of five bridges on the Sohar-Al Buraimi dual road – at a cost of $15.6 million (OMR 6 million), the project focuses on improving road safety and maintaining traffic efficiency in the region.
- Izki-Nizwa dual carriageway – costing around $121.7 million (OMR 46.8 million), this 32-kilometer project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and support tourism, featuring new roundabouts and tunnels.
- Completion of the Al-Ubaila-Al-Fayyadh road – with an investment of $50.5 million (OMR 19.4 million), this project focuses on facilitating traffic and stimulating social and economic activity in Al-Buraimi Governorate.
- Raysut-Al Mughsail dual road – this $90.5 million (OMR 34.8 million) project, spanning 33 kilometers, will connect key tourist sites in Dhofar Governorate.
- Saih Qatna road – costing $11.7 million (OMR 4.5 million), this project will upgrade the current road through the mountainous terrain in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
These projects are part of the broader efforts by Oman to upgrade its road network, boost traffic safety, and promote socio-economic growth across various governorates.
