Galfar Engineering & Contracting, one of the leading construction firms in the Middle East, has been awarded a $119 million (RO 46 million) contract from Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT). The project involves expanding a 30.2 km stretch of road from Qarut Al Janubiyah roundabout in Wilayat Izki through Birkat Al Mawz to A’Turath village in Wilayat Nizwa, Galfar stated in a filing with the Muscat Stock Exchange.
The contract includes constructing 10 new roundabouts, upgrading two existing ones, and adding a new traffic signal. Project work is set to commence shortly and is expected to conclude by September 2027.
This win follows Galfar’s recent $303 million (RO 117 million) contract from Nama Water Services to develop water distribution networks in Al Dhahirah Governorate, further strengthening Galfar’s order book and reinforcing its position in Oman’s infrastructure sector.
