Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), in partnership with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, has introduced an advanced occupational and environmental medicine programme. This initiative aligns with the occupational health goals set forth in Qatar’s Second National Health Strategy.
To support the programme’s implementation, a scientific committee has been established to oversee its rollout and select trainees, focusing on specialists and consultants in occupational medicine, family medicine, and community medicine.
As part of this effort, the ministry recently held a training workshop for trainers, aimed at strengthening national expertise in occupational health. The workshop also introduced the programme’s curriculum, which was developed collaboratively by the MoPH’s Occupational Health Section and the WHO.
This programme represents a significant step in enhancing occupational health standards and building national capacity in Qatar.
