Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired the first 2025 meeting of the High Coordination Committee for Provinces on Sunday.
The committee reviewed its executive agenda, focusing on advancing government program objectives, prioritizing infrastructure projects, and addressing provincial concerns.
One major decision was approving the draft of the new Provincial Law, initiating the legislative process.
In an environmental push, the committee formed a task force to identify alternative, eco-friendly sites for brick factories and mandated the use of liquid gas for newly established facilities.
Additionally, responsibilities, services, and budgets were transferred from federal ministries to Kirkuk, in accordance with the amended Provincial Law.
The committee also addressed agricultural policies by establishing a group to evaluate the Ministry of Agriculture’s draft policy.
To tackle delayed investment licenses, a dedicated committee was formed to investigate the causes of the delays and propose solutions within 30 days.
