Doha has achieved a notable milestone by ranking third among 62 Asian cities in the prestigious Numbeo Quality of Life Index by City for 2025. This accomplishment highlights Doha’s evolution into a global hub that harmoniously combines modernity with cultural heritage, all while prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of its residents. The Numbeo index assesses cities worldwide based on factors such as purchasing power, safety, healthcare quality, cost of living, commute times, pollution levels, and climate.
Doha’s strong performance in the index reflects its dedication to improving urban living standards and establishing itself as one of the region’s most livable cities. According to the rankings, Doha achieved a Quality of Life Index score of 178.7, with a high purchasing power index of 151.8. The city also scored 84.1 in the Safety Index, 73.4 in the Healthcare Index, and maintained a relatively low cost of living at 47.8. Other notable scores include a Property Price to Income Ratio of 6.2, a Traffic Commute Time Index of 29.1, a Pollution Index of 59.9, and a Climate Index of 36.0. Doha trailed only Abu Dhabi and Muscat, which secured the top two spots in the rankings.
Doha’s ascent to the top three in Asia is the result of deliberate planning and strategic investments over the past decade. The Qatari government has made significant progress in diversifying its economy beyond oil and gas, channeling substantial resources into infrastructure, education, healthcare, and sustainability initiatives. These efforts have led to measurable improvements in the quality of life for Doha’s residents, making the city an appealing destination for expatriates, professionals, and families.
A key factor in Doha’s high ranking is its outstanding safety record. The city maintains remarkably low crime rates, creating a secure environment for its residents. This sense of safety is reinforced by efficient law enforcement and community-focused policing strategies. For many, the ability to walk the streets or use public transportation without fear significantly enhances their overall quality of life.
Healthcare is another area where Doha excels. The city is home to cutting-edge medical facilities staffed by internationally trained professionals. Institutions such as Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine offer world-class healthcare services, ensuring residents have access to timely and effective treatment. Additionally, Qatar’s universal health coverage system makes healthcare affordable, further boosting Doha’s appeal.
Doha also performs well in terms of traffic and commuting. The metro system, launched in 2019, has revolutionized urban mobility, providing fast, reliable, and affordable transportation across the city.
