The Egyptian table grape export sector is increasingly adopting paper packaging to align with sustainability demands and improve fruit protection. Packaging manufacturers are gearing up for the upcoming season with advanced solutions that meet both market standards and economic considerations for exporters, as highlighted by Mohamed Ali, co-founder of FreshDeal.
Ali explains, “We’ve collaborated closely with Egypt’s top table grape exporters to enhance our packaging for the next season. Exporters specifically sought eco-friendly, plastic-free options that adhere to global export regulations and address sustainability concerns in target markets. Equally crucial is ensuring the packaging provides superior protection, maintains freshness, prevents moisture buildup, and reduces damage during transit.”
He adds, “Exporters also require tailored branding and market differentiation, achieved through high-quality printing and customization to make Egyptian grapes stand out on shelves. Of course, cost remains a key factor, necessitating a balance between price and quality to support large-scale export viability.”
According to Ali, the ideal packaging for table grape exporters will feature reinforced paper structures, breathable designs, and customizable branding options, directly addressing the needs of both exporters and customers while fostering the long-term growth of Egyptian grape exports.
Ali shares FreshDeal’s latest initiative: “We’re excited to announce that FreshDeal is preparing for the upcoming export season with an innovative solution. We will produce 20 million specially designed paper bags for Egyptian table grape exporters. Our new product complies with international environmental and food safety standards. By replacing traditional plastic packaging with FSC®-certified paper bags and eco-friendly printing inks, FreshDeal is helping Egyptian exporters meet the stringent environmental policies of global markets, particularly in Europe and Asia.”
