H.E. Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, Chairperson of Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), emphasized that safeguarding children’s rights remains a top priority for the country.
Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Al Attiyah stated, “Through the NHRC’s oversight of the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and related protocols ratified by Qatar, we affirm that the state has ensured equal access to education and the highest standards of healthcare for children and adolescents.”
Al Attiyah highlighted the NHRC’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about children’s rights, particularly in the digital sphere. She noted, “This commitment was reflected in the third National Forum held in Doha in 2024, themed ‘Protecting Children’s Rights in a Safe Digital Environment: Challenges and Prospects for Empowerment and Protection.’” Among the forum’s key recommendations was the training of national departments and agencies to better protect children in digital spaces.
She added, “In line with this mission, we are eager to collaborate with international and civil society organizations to share expertise and enhance training programs focused on child protection in digital environments.”
