In a move to strengthen food security and attract private sector investment, Oman has signed 11 usufruct agreements for agricultural and livestock projects worth over USD 4.7 million.
The agreements cover around 325 hectares of land across five governorates and were signed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Eng. Hamad bin Ali al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing, and H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture.
The initiative aims to boost local food production, improve land utilization, and integrate modern farming technologies into agricultural and livestock operations. These projects are expected to enhance Oman’s food supply chain and support rural economic development.
Officials highlighted the goal of establishing sustainable, economically viable projects aligned with national food security strategies and capable of generating employment.
The projects span the governorates of North Batinah, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah, Dakhliyah, and Musandam, and include citrus farming, broiler poultry production, animal feed crop development, greenhouse vegetable cultivation, and golden onion production and marketing.
