Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has officially launched the construction of the Nasiriyah Medical City Project in Dhi Qar Province — a major healthcare complex featuring 13 facilities, including seven hospitals with a total capacity of 700 beds.
Spanning 132 dunams (13.2 hectares or 33 acres), the project is designed to reduce Iraq’s dependence on medical treatment abroad and will house specialized hospitals, a blood bank, a research center, and full utility infrastructure.
The project is being built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) under the supervision of the Dhi Qar Reconstruction Fund.
Contracts were signed last month, with the total cost estimated at 490 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately $374 million).
