Qatar and Greece's trade volume touched $100 million in 2017 and is set to increase further, Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al Thani said.
He said this during the Qatari-Greek Business Forum in Doha on Monday, in the presence of QC Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Tawar al Kuwari, Panagiotis Mihalos, head of the Greek delegation, HE Constantinos Orphanides, Greek Ambassador to Qatar, and other QC board members.
Hailing the strong ties between Qatar and Greece, Sheikh Khalifa said,"Qatar and Greece have developed their relations at all levels. There is a keen interest from both countries to further strengthen their relations to broader horizons."
There is much Qatari investment in Greece in energy, tourism, hospitality and real estate sectors, he noted.
Sheikh Khalifa also pointed out that several Greek companies are operating in the Qatari market in many sectors, particularly in construction.
He expressed QC's support for the establishment of more business alliances between the Qatari and Greek firms.
On his part, the head of Greek delegation said the objective of this visit was to enhance economic and business cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation comprised several companies that are willing to enter into the Qatari market, he said.
Mihalos hailed the historic relation that ties Greece with the Arab world especially with Qatar, affirming that it should reflect on the trade exchange between the two countries. He noted that Greece has successfully overcome the financial crisis and witnessed growth.
Meanwhile, the Greek ambassador said the economies of both countries had managed to overcome all challenges.
He said,"It is time for both countries' business community to establish strong partnerships in all economic and trade sectors."
The Greek delegation delivered a presentation on the investment opportunities available in energy, logistics, tourism, real estate and food processing sectors.
