Held under the Patronage of the President of the Council of Ministers, H.E. Mr. Saad Hariri, Project Lebanon 2017, the International Trade Exhibition for Construction Materials and Equipment for Lebanon and the Middle East, ran from 16 to 19 May at BIEL – Beirut. The 22nd edition of the exhibition was inaugurated by Minister of Economy and Trade, H.E. Mr. Raed Khoury, and welcomed 313 exhibitors from 22 countries showcasing more than 1,001 brands.
Aiming at being an all-inclusive business event serving all the needs of construction stakeholders, Project Lebanon was held concurrently with Energy Lebanon, the 7th International Trade Exhibition for Power, Electrical Engineering, Alternative Energy, Lighting and HVAC. Project Lebanon also hosted two specialized conferences: the Syria Business Forum and EcOrient.
Lebanon’s Opportunities and Challenges in the reconstruction of Syria – Syria post-crisis Seminar:
Held for the second consecutive year, and moderated by former Minister of Economy and Trade in Lebanon, HE Mr. Nicolas Nahas, the conference welcomed UN-ESCWA representatives and 113 delegates and leading experts from Lebanon and Syria. The conference answered numerous questions including the main projects development planned for Lebanon in light of post-crisis Syria, and the challenges and opportunities in entering the Syrian market.
EcOrient Series – 2017 Conference:
The 6th International Conference for Environmental Technologies, Sustainability, and Clean Energy, was dedicated this year to exploring renewable energy and discussing the implementation of Lebanon’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan by 2020. Moderated by Walid El Babe, Webco’s Managing director, EcOrient 2017 welcomed 138 delegates and representatives of: the Ministry of Energy and Water, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC), the Lebanese Solar Energy Society (LSES), Adenium Energy Capital, and the UNDP-CEDRO.
Start-up Pavilion:
The major highlight of the Levant’s biggest construction platform was the launch of the Start-up Pavilion. The new space is dedicated for Lebanese start-ups to share their innovations and technology, and engage with industry leaders. The Pavilion included networking sessions and a conference attended by a panel of experts and incubators who discussed Lebanon’s booming start-up industry, its potential, and its development.
Project Lebanon 2017 proved once again that it is the largest construction trade exhibition in the Levant. The 4-day business event, welcoming 18,000 professional visitors, included a free B2B matchmaking service that witnessed hundreds of one-on-one meetings between exhibitors and visitors. Stressing on the quality of both the visitors and exhibitors, a representative of the Kaleco Hungarian Trade House said: “our participation was successful, we met many potential clients; we were able also to meet some of the exhibitors. These quick meetings could end by actual collaboration in the coming months”.
