Qatar Chamber has affirmed its interest to strengthen trade cooperation with Germany by fostering mutual investments and building partnerships with Qatari and German companies.
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani made the statement during the Arab-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry meetings and the 20th Arab-German Economic Forum held recently in Berlin.
Sheikh Khalifa headed the chamber's delegation, which includes the board member Adel al-Mannai. Representatives from Manateq and Qatar Finance Centre also attended the meetings, Qatar Chamber said in a statement.
Qatar Chamber said the forum aims to enhance economic and trade relations between Arab countries and Germany, along with developing cooperation ties among business owners from both sides.
The forum's sessions highlighted the latest developments in Arab-German economic relations, and reviewed topics of mutual interest such as manufacturing and technological exchange, impact of oil prices, education and development, environment and sustainability, infrastructure, women in business, and economic diversity.
Sheikh Khalifa said Arab-German relations witnessed 'great progress recently, especially there is clear desire from both sides to expand the economic and trade cooperation at all levels.
He noted that Arab-German trade volume reached €52bn while Arab investments in Germany amounted to €100bn. Sheikh Khalifa also urged both sides to explore the available investment opportunities in Qatar and Germany.
Sheikh Khalifa also said Qatari investments in Germany amounted to 25bn in the automotive, technology, and banking sectors.
'Germany is a very essential partner to Qatar and the German economy is the strongest in Europe. The ongoing projects of 2022 FIFA World Cup attracted many German companies to take part in these mega projects. Over 200 German companies are operating in Qatar, he added.
