Project Egypt 2016, The International Trade Exhibition for Construction Technology, Building Materials & Equipment for Egypt and Africa was officially opened by HE Saudi Ambassador in Egypt Ahmed El Kattan & Mr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of Egypt Expo & Convention Authority, at the Cairo International Conventions Center, on 11 February 2016.
On this occasion, the Saudi ambassador announced that he was proud of what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved in the construction sector, and that the participation of some 30 Saudi companies in Project Egypt 2016 reflects the achievements of the Kingdom in the industrial and construction sectors. Ambassador Kattan also underlined the increasingly close and effective cooperation between Cairo and Riyadh noting that the two countries are working together in the housing sector like the Saudi companies' involvement in the ‘million housing units’ project.
In his turn, IFP Group Chairman Albert Aoun declared that Project Egypt is part of the construction and building materials exhibition series that IFP organize in many Arab countries for more than 20 years. Mr. Aoun pointed out that the participation of 120 companies in its first edition reflects the importance of the Project Egypt as a Launchpad for expanding trade in Egypt and Africa in general. He also noted that the strong Saudi and UAE participation, in addition to companies from Lebanon, Egypt and other countries, reflects the importance of Arab countries as investment destination especially in the real estate sector.
A major highlight of Project Egypt was the presence of more than 100 Egyptian, African and regional construction trade mission especially invited and financed by IFP for B2B meetings with the exhibitors. This invited trade mission represents major companies operating in the building and construction sectors in the African markets. This B2B initiative will definitely put Egypt on the international exhibitions map as a focal point for African and the Middle Eastern construction and building materials players, decision makers and traders to meet and do business in the long term.
Project Egypt showcased everything needed for the construction industry in addition to marble, granite, ceramics, insulating materials, floors and walls, pipes, power and electricity. And yet, the exhibition is designed to meet the needs of all players in the building materials and construction sectors like dealers and importers, developers, real estate projects, contracting and consulting firms and offices.
Project Egypt 2016 is set to become an unprecedented event within the exhibition industry in Egypt, especially in terms of size, organization and participation. Egypt's strategic location provides direct access to the many markets that have trade treaties with Egypt, in addition to the re-export privileges offered by the Suez Canal to Africa and the Arabian Gulf.
