Day one of LightingTech Egypt conference (December 9) at Radisson Blu hotel, Cairo Heliopolis brought together the relevant government authorities, lighting industry experts, construction professionals and solution providers to learn about the upcoming projects, regulations, standards, discuss the needs and requirements for the lighting industry to achieve energy efficiency and ease the electricity load in Egypt. This conference is organized by Advanced Conferences & Meetings (ACM), powered by Project Egypt and partnered with IFP Egypt.
The presentation of Prof. Mohamed El Sobky highlighted the updates on the energy efficiency regulations by NREA. Sherein Abdalla shared an overview on the work by the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency. Hend Farouh shared an overview on the current projects implemented by the New Urban Communities Authority. Whilst Dr. Anhar Higazi highlighted in her presentation the opportunities and plans for energy efficiency in the Egyptian power sector. Yves Borlez from Schreder shared a presentation on the Latest trends in lighting technology and LED photometry. Another interesting presentation on the lighting design of the Grand Egyptian Museum was delivered by Robert Müller. Dr. Hassan Abdel Magied elaborated on the trends in lighting and standardization by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization. The last presentation of the day was delivered by Mohamed Jaber who showcased the latest technological advancements to reduce lighting pollution globally.

The first day of LightingTech Egypt created the perfect platform for the attendees to build relations, exchange ideas and seize business opportunities throughout the ACMi+ interface that allowed for many networking breaks which created a dynamic, efficient and relevant learning environment.

Day two (December 10) of the conference featured presentations of case studies about the public realm lighting of “The Beach” in Dubai, the lighting challenges in construction by Turner and Interior designer’s perspective on challenges in lighting by Emaar Misr. Also other informative and enlightening presentations included an overview of Energy Efficiency Initiatives in Egypt by the United Nations Development Programme- GEF, an engineering perspective on the efficient lighting controls, indoor lighting from common practices to bench-marks in governmental buildings and lighting challenges in the Middle East and takeaways to reduce energy demand by 2020.
