Hospitality Qatar 2015 has attracted 7,346 trade visitors who came to network with 120 exhibitors from 12 countries.
Held from October 13 to 15 at Doha Exhibition Center, the show featured Business-to-Business matchmaking platform, Calon Culinaire, Mocktail competition and food safety training workshops. The B2B platform hosted 13 top hotels in Qatar as buyers, with 320 meetings with exhibitors.
Khalid Yousef, Business Development Manager, Elegancia Events & Entertainment, the Gold Sponsor of Hospitality Qatar, said: “The hospitality sector in Qatar is witnessing major growth and we would like to be part of it — that is why we chose to sponsor the expo.
“The show was successful; we were able to network with a large number of trade visitors and received several leads. Hospitality Qatar is the perfect platform for industry professionals to meet and network, and supports the growth of the sector and Qatar’s economy in general.”
Twenty-two gold, 38 silver and 99 bronze medals were awarded to chefs in 15 categories of Salon Culinaire, co-organized by Qatar Culinary Professionals association and supervised by World Association of Chefs Societies for Africa & the Middle East (WACS). The three most talented bartenders received medals and trophies in Mocktail competition.
“I would like to commend Qatar Culinary Professionals on the large number of contestants they enrolled for Salon Culinaire. Such massive participation shows that local chefs are hungry for such events and willing to showcase their talent,” said Chef Thomas Gugler, Continental Director, WACS Africa & Middle East. The three-day certified safety training workshop conducted by Boecker, Salon Culinaire and Official Hygiene Sponsor, was attended by 370 professionals who received certificates after attending sessions on ‘Induction to HACCP’ and ‘Induction to Basic Food Hygiene Awareness’.
