Session feature:
As investment in infrastructure and planning accelerates across the region, Middle East nations are undergoing rapid transformation. Economic diversification, sport, culture, tourism, trade and financial services will all be key drivers, but knowledge will be the bedrock of this new society.
However, as the pace of development accelerates, there is a growing realisation that culture and identity are being lost. This sentiment is all the more acute because profound change is happening in real-time in front of our eyes.
Mangera Yvars Architects (MYAA) is an international architecture design studio that has been working across the Middle East for many years and have been exploring the question of what is contemporary Islamic identity. MYAA recently completed the award winning Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) and the project will be presented in the context of how culture, faith and identity can be integrated into the form and fabric of a landmark building on the Education City Campus.
Ali Mangera of MYAA will present QFIS and explain how buildings interiors create intricate learning space, but address also the question of contemporary Islamic identity.
This is your last chance to register at Future Interiors Qatar.
