The Egyptian government has received a total of 183 requests from global companies willing to launch ventures in Egypt’s renewable energy domain, the country’s prime minister reveals.
The requests came as part of the state’s efforts to expand investments in the renewable and clean energy field and construct new power stations to ease pressure on the nation’s current power resources, says Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
In remarks published by Amwal al-Ghad, the Egyptian premier says his government works to increase the country’s power stations’ generation capacity to 3,636 megawatts before the end of next October.
He notes that this plan comes as part of an agreement the government has signed with global technology powerhouse Siemens to raise electric power output within a six-month period.
He adds that studying and analyzing the reasons behind recurring power outages, in addition to employing high-caliber experts, helped in resolving the electric power supply crisis for now.
Earlier this year, the Egyptian president said his country aims to build solar and wind power plants in the next three years with combined capacity of 4,300 megawatts.
