PRO ECUADOR, the Trade and Investment promotion organization of Ecuador has organized its second trade forum “Connecting with Ecuador” in the UAE on 28th September at the Ritz Carlton – DIFC, Dubai. This event is managed by IFP Emirates. Participants to this event will be presented with proven strategies on how to invest in and trade with Ecuador on an enhanced level.
Trade between Ecuador and Dubai is growing after a sharp rise in bilateral trade since 2010. Dubai’s exports and re-exports account for around 80% of its total trade with Ecuador. Exports from Dubai to Ecuador have grown 60% during the past three years while imports grew threefold. Aiming at a target proportionate to Ecuador’s share in the total GDP of Latin America can lift bilateral trade between Dubai and Ecuador by at least 50% over the current volumes.
Among the topics to be presented at the forum are Ecuador’s vast business opportunities, why to invest in Ecuador, Ecuadorian flower – the best on the planet, business opportunities through Pro Ecuador including the introduction of an array of quality Ecuadorian products which local companies can launch in the local market. Globally known for its high quality products such as fruits, coffee, chocolates, wood and flowers, Ecuador is capable of meeting the unique needs of the UAE and the region.
“’Connecting with Ecuador’ event is an excellent platform to exchange business opportunities and forge stronger ties between the trading communities in Ecuador, Dubai, and the surrounding GCC region,” said Bassel Amaneddine, GM of IFP Emirates, the event managing company. “Dubai is an ideal base for Ecuadorian businesses to access GCC, MENA and Indian subcontinent markets due to its extensive infrastructure and diversified economy which opens the doors to significant investment opportunities,” he added.
One of the fastest growing economies in South America, Ecuador is gaining ground in the UAE as one of its key trade partners. Ecuador’s imports from the UAE grew on an annual average of 56% from 2008 to 2012, while Ecuador’s exports to UAE posted an annual average growth of 9% during the same period.
The trade forum is organized by PRO ECUADOR and supported by the Department of Economic Development and Trade.

With the opening of PRO ECUADOR Office in Dubai, UAE on October, 2012 and with the strong support of the Department of Economic Development, Government of Dubai and Dubai Chamber business relations are expected to enhance further.
