The Bahraini government has revealed plans to tender another $3bn of the $10bn (BHD3.8bn) it received from the GCC Development Fund by the end of this year.
A meeting of the country’s cabinet on Monday (3 August) heard that $2bn of the funding has already been assigned, with 37% of this going towards housing projects.
A report in Gulf Daily News said that the cabinet plans to continue with housing as its top priority, with development of electricity and water facilities, expansion of Bahrain International Airport, sewage, roads and education following closely.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier chaired the cabinet session for the first time, which focused on Bahrain's growth and development strategies.
