The Egyptian Maintenance Company, San Masr and Ericsson, a global leader in communications technology, signed a contract for LE265 million ($37 million) to modernize the communication systems of power stations.
San Masr Chairman Mohamed Abdel Hafez said the company is modernizing 250 power stations for the Egyptian Electricity Company from Giza to Aswan with Japanese funding.
“We will have two central remote control units in Samalut and Nag Hammadi,” he said, adding that the main network is made of fiber-optic cables with a backup network consisting of wireless communication devices.
