Iraq's Missan governorate has approved plans to construct 3,468 housing units and the contract has been awarded to a local company, an official in the southeast province said.
Yousuf Al Sari, head of Missan's investment authority, said the local government has already allotted a plot for the complex and that the contractor has embarked on land fencing and other procedures to begin the project.
He was quoted by the Iraqi news agency Nina, as saying that the project is intended to ease "housing crisis" in the governorate but did not mention the project costs.
