Professor Serwan Baban, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government officially opened the Iraq Agrofood 2013, the Specialized Agriculture Technology, Food, Food Processing and Packaging Exhibition on Monday 18 November at the Erbil International Fair Ground.
Organized by IFP Iraq, Iraq Agro-Food 2013 has drawn more than 320 companies from 27 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa including Jordan, Spain, Germany, U.A.E., Iran, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, Tunisia, Syria, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, China, Iraq, Cyprus, Kuwait, Canada, Latvia, Lebanon, Hungary, Egypt, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, India, the Netherlands, and Greece.
The event begun with its customary opening ceremony, attended by high ranking officials and dignitaries including the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, KRG’s Trade and Industry Minister Sinan Celebi, Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG’s Foreign Relations Department and Nawzad Hadi, Governor of Erbil in addition to ambassadors, consuls.
Speaking about the 6th exhibition, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Dr Serwan Baban, said that this was another opportunity to see the ongoing developments in the sector. He said, “We have witnessed continued growth in each annual exhibition with the number of businesses and officials participating in these events. This is a testament to the exhibition’s continued success and represents the potential of the agriculture industry in Kurdistan.”
Fadi Darwish, General Manager of IFP Iraq said "Iraqi food agricultural fair is the largest international gathering of its kind is the agriculture sector in Iraq in General," adding that "the current session is one of the largest in the history of the show with recorded an increase of 10% in the exhibition spaces of 12 thousand square meters."
This year, Iraq Agro-Food 2013 features products covering all aspects of agricultural and food production in addition to high quality food and beverages, juices, mineral water, canned and dry food, chocolate, pastries, and other food products.
Iraq Agro-Food 2013 offers a unique opportunity for national and international agriculture and food experts to meet manufacturers, suppliers, traders, businessmen and officials in order to facilitate their efforts in the country as a whole.
Iraq Agrofood 2013 will continue until Thursday, 21 November. The show is open from 2 pm to 8 pm.
