The 9th GCC – CIGRE International Conference and 18th Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, GCC Power 2013 Conference and Exhibition was opened on Monday 18 November by UAE's Minister of Energy, HE Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Managed by GCC CIGRE and organized by IFP, the event runs until 20 November 2013.

Hosted by ADWEA (Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority) in conjunction with the Regional Committee for Power Systems in the GCC, GCC Power is considered one of the largest and most specialized events taking place in the electricity sector in the Gulf region.
The UAE attaches significant importance to rationale use of water and electricity, build smart grids and improve operational efficiency of water and power stations in order to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions and protect the environment, the Minister of Energy said in his opening address.
The minister also added: ''Exchange of expertise and working together to find innovative solutions to challenges the electricity sector is facing represent a high value to our country and communities and such conference will contribute to facilitate inter-cooperation between international competent organizations, enhance local, regional and international efforts on scientific research and provide a platform for discussing the latest development in the industry.
The event gives participants the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the electricity and energy industry, as well as providing exhibitors with access to the most lucrative deals.
The conference offers the ideal forum for all those concerned with the power sector to develop business relations and discuss the issues and challenges facing the power sector in the region. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss the latest trends, challenges, developments and strategies to meet the region's rapidly expanding energy needs through a series of panel and technical sessions.
