Project Iraq 2013, the 6th International Trade Exhibition for Construction and Environmental Technology, Materials & Equipment opened at Erbil International Fair Ground on Monday 28 October, under auspices of Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government. Project Iraq 2013 runs until October 31.
Organized by IFP Iraq, Project Iraq 2013 is held concurrently with Energy Iraq 2013, the 3rd International Exhibition for Electricity, Alternative Energy, Lighting, Water Technology and HVAC, and Real Estate and Investment Iraq 2013, The International Real Estate, Investment & Property Development Exhibition for Iraq.
The event begun with its customary opening ceremony, attended by high ranking officials and dignitaries including Kameran Ahmed Abdullah, KRG’s Minister of Construction and Housing, Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG’s Foreign Relations Department and Nawzad Hadi, Governor of Erbil in addition to ambassadors, consuls
Due to the outstanding international participation of 625 companies from 27 different countries, led by 86 Turkish and 80 Italian companies and the high numbers of visiting delegations that flocked to the show, the event confirmed its ongoing success; setting yet another milestone to the incessant growth, matched only by the growth of the construction and energy markets in Kurdistan region and Iraq.
On this occasion, Kameran Ahmed, KRG’s Minister of Construction and Housing announced that the opening of such annual exhibitions, the 6th of its kind in the Kurdistan region helps optimize the role of the private and public sectors in reviving the construction sector and modernize the economic infrastructure of the Kurdistan region.
For his part, Nawzad Hadi, the Governor of Erbil said that such exhibitions create a good opportunity for the participating companies to compete for a better market share noting that according to experts, the Erbil International Fair Ground is considered one of the best international exhibitions venues in terms of quality and presentation of goods. The governor also noted that the presence of this number of companies indicates the extent of stability and security in the capital Erbil enjoys.
This year, Project Iraq 2013 features the participation of more than 27 countries including Armenia, Spain, Germany, U.A.E., Ukraine, Italy, Iran, Pakistan, Portugal, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, the Czech Republic, China, Iraq, France, Vietnam, Canada, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Austria, India, the United States of America, Greece. 15 of these countries participate with official national pavilions sponsored by corresponding official bodies and organizations in their countries. Actually more than 35 trade missions and international trade development agencies will be present at the show.
Fady Darwich, the GM of IFP Iraq noted that the number of the visitors on the first day of the exhibition is very encouraging. "We expect the show to maintain the same momentum with many additional conferences and matchmaking events.”
Project Iraq 2013 and the concurrent events will continue until Thursday, 31 October. The shows are open from 2 pm to 8 pm.
