The development project of Ghala Industrial Estate has been brought to the fore once again as the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) discussed at its third meeting of the year the study presented by a consultancy firm for redesigning of the industrial estate and development of infrastructure with the objective of transforming the area into a modern multi-purpose city. The Council also discussed proposed solutions which aim to limit the impact on the properties of the citizens.
The significance of developing the industrial estate in Ghala arises due to the expansion of Muscat International Airport and the associated new roads which will run close to Ghala.
Hilal bin Salim al Kindi, HR manager at a leading company in Ghala, said:
"Modernization is a crucial requirement in Ghala as a significant industrial estate in the capital city and also because of its closeness to the airport. Development projects also serve the residents as they bring many services such as roads and new buildings.
"We feel grateful to the Supreme Council for Planning for the attention they showed in developing the area even though it was a bit delayed."
Ahmed al Sabahi, an employee, said: "Development was delayed and we thought we would be shifted to Al Misfa area as many companies have been given lands there for residential, commercial and industrial purposes. However no steps were taken to shift the activities to Al Misfa.
The decision of the Supreme Council for Planning has revived our hopes to see development taking place in this area."
