Some 32 new contracts worth more than SR 1.45 billion ($387 million) were recently awarded to a number of national companies for the implementation of municipal projects in Riyadh, Madinah, the Eastern Province, Jeddah and Ahsa.
The contracts, signed by Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Miteb, included rain and flood disposal projects at the cost of SR 78.72 million allocated for certain districts in Riyadh. In addition, the contracts encompassed road asphalting, paving and lighting projects for four different municipalities in Riyadh region at the cost of SR 45.67 million, SR 35.98 million, SR 31.61 million and SR 10.22 million respectively, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Other contracts awarded in Riyadh city included road maintenance works valued at SR 287.86 million, implementation of the intersection of Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz Road with Takhassusi Road at SR 68.37 million and road asphalting works in districts located in the south of the city at SR 30.75 million.
In Madinah, four contracts were awarded: The first is related to the construction of gardens and parks at the cost of SR 1.96 million, a grave fencing and funeral parlor project (SR 1.49 million), insulation works at a Madinah road tunnel (SR 3.19 million), and, fourthly, flood disposal and water drainage projects in different parts of the region (SR 39 million).
In the Eastern Region, nine contracts were awarded including a flood drainage project at the cost of SR 36.13 million, district development project in Dammam (SR 14.95 million), an automatic telecom and IT network project (SR 753,000), maintenance project of gardens, irrigation system, pumping and landscaping in Dammam (SR 100 million), a five-year cleaning contract in Qatif (SR 97 million), and other cleaning projects in different parts of the region (SR 64.80 million).
Meanwhile, Ahsa Province contractors were awarded two new projects: One is the intersection project of King Abdullah Road with the Ring Road within the province at the cost of SR 103.26 million, and the other one is the development project of roads and streets within villages of the province worth SR 33.15 million.
In Jeddah Province, nine contracts were awarded as follows: Jeddah secretariat restructuring project at the cost of SR 9.90 million, paperwork tracking system based on RFLD technology (SR 4.43 million), museum renovation project (SR 11.32 million), a tunnel project (SR 87.88 million), computer operation and maintenance project at Jeddah Municipality (SR 41.63 million), a waste processing and operation project (SR 66 million), and road paving, asphalting and lighting project for the housing grant schemes in the northern and eastern parts of Jeddah (SR 37.55 million).
