A new oil storage terminal and pipeline is to be built at Dubai's Jebel Ali Port that will help serve the fuel needs of the emirate's rapidly expanding airport.
Horizon Terminals – a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) announced the new terminal will be able to store more than 140,000 cubic meters of oil and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The project also features a 60km jet fuel pipeline that links the terminal directly to the Dubai International Airport.
Yusr Sultan, managing director of terminals at the firm, explained: "With Dubai recording significant growth in its aviation sector, the new terminal has a strategic role to play in further strengthening operations through assured jet fuel supply."
The $142 million terminal will be able to receive jet fuel from marine tankers and from the adjacent ENOC-owned refinery. The jet fuel oil pipeline to Dubai International will also have a branch-off connection to the emirate's huge Al Maktoum International Airport.
