The Saudi Council of Ministers approved the Kingdom's accession to the agreement on joint insurance cards for vehicles traveling across Arab countries. The move will facilitate travel of Saudis and expatriates in their cars to other Arab countries. The pan-Arab agreement was signed in Tunis on April 26, 1975.
The Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, reviewed the latest regional and international developments. It welcomed the resolutions taken by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers to strengthen Arab security and fight terrorism and other crimes.
The Cabinet appreciated the council's decision to establish an award after late Prince Naif. It welcomed the launch of celebrations marking the selection of Madinah as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2013.
The Cabinet endorsed a cooperation agreement with China in the field of sports, which was signed in Beijing on Jan. 6, 2012. It also noted the Kingdom's 12th position in the quality of roads, among 144 countries, in the Global Competitiveness Report, published by World Economic Forum in Switzerland for 2012-2013.
After reviewing reports by the ministries of Health and Social Affairs regarding the proposal to hold awareness courses for those who want to get married, the Cabinet authorized the Social Affairs Ministry to conduct awareness programs and courses for men and women who want to get married in all regions of the Kingdom. The attendance in these courses shall be optional for the parties to the marriage contract.
After reviewing a report by the minister of transport regarding the study prepared by the Ministry of Transport, the Cabinet approved the comprehensive planning guide for the transport sector in the Kingdom.
According to the available financial assets, the Ministry of Transport shall monitor the implementation of the Comprehensive Planning Guide and coordinate with the relevant authorities through the Supreme Supervisory Committee formed under the chairmanship of the minister of transport. A national electronic portal will be established for the purpose.
The Cabinet approved the appointment of Yousef bin Saleh Al-Hafiz, Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al-Maqoshi, Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdul-Qadir and Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Aboudi as members of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Commission for Wildlife for three years.
