The first edition of Beirut Conference, organized by UNIAPAC, MA’AM, and managed by IFP Group, will be held on 25 and 26 March at the Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand Hotel under the patronage of President Michel Sleiman. The conference, which is dedicated to corporate social responsibility, brings together Christian and Muslim business leaders to discuss how companies and the economy can better benefit their local communities.
Representatives from IBM, the WTO, the Vatican and the King Faisal Center for Research & Islamic Studies are among the speakers on the panels. More than 500 business leaders are expected to attend.
The conference includes discussions on business leader’s roles in shaping their companies’ culture and workforce conduct and corporate duties to society.
The conference’s key objectives are to encourage the establishment of businesses that apply corporate social responsibility; promote equality, a fair distribution of income and diverse workforce; and contribute to building a global economy that better balances the free market and the common good.
“Through conferences like this, we will try to find viable means to create an efficient and economically sustainable society where human beings are considered as the end and not the means. This is at least what we think and plan to achieve,” said Raymond Sfeir, the secretary general of MA'AM (the Islamic-Christian Forum for Businessmen).
