Nine football stadiums do Arab destination Qatar still need to meet with the World Cup 2022 agenda. '13 Stadiums we do have already', newly appointed Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Issa Al Mohannadi says.
This expansion program does include many new hotels as well. "We probably need between 65, and 85,000 overnight accommodations", Al Mohannadi adds. The demand is fed at the artificial island The Pearl for example, where currently two luxury hotels are being erected: a Kempinski to open in spring 2014 and a Four Seasons.
Four more hotels currently arise in the city center of Doha capital. They are part of the Msheireb Downtown project. "That is a 32 hectare area covered with hotels, museums and office blocks", Al Mohannadi explains. Thereunder properties branded by Mandarin Oriental and Park Hyatt. The opening is scheduled at the earliest.
To ensure Msheireb Downtown located close to the popular Souk Wakif will be an accessible district, it is already linked to the Qatar metro.
