Qatar's wholesale and retail trade sector's total production rose 11% to QR32.15bn in 2011, according to the data released by country's statistics body.
The gross value added (GVA) generated reached QR27.8bn, representing 5.1% of Qatar's gross domestic product (GDP); while the net value added (after eliminating depreciation) amounted to QR26bn, said the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA). The GVA per employee was QR224,000; showing an annual increase of 21%.
The proportion of intermediate goods to gross output was 2.6%, while that of intermediate services to gross output was 10.9%.
A total of 8,784 establishments were covered, of which 1,206 (14%) were large establishments, defined as those employing 10 or more employees.
