A recently published report by INSEAD, considered the UAE as one of the leading destinations worldwide, in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) and talent.
The report, entitled Measuring Innovation Capabilities of Nations, gives valuable insights into the progress of the UAE in becoming a “knowledge-based economy”. The findings highlight the ability of the country in anchoring and attracting knowledge to its economy, owing to its investment friendly environment and ease of doing business.
The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, lead among the resource-rich countries in terms of diffusing knowledge within their economies, the same case as industrialized economies, such as Australia, South Korea and the US do.
The UAE's strength in this regard stems mainly from its capability of spreading innovative skills and techniques among its rapidly developing human capital. It also displayed a significant ability in terms of accessing knowledge, thanks to its cosmopolitan nature, talent pool and presence of international enterprises, as well as adopting advanced information and communication technologies.
