UAE-based contractor Arabtec has announced that it has been awarded with a $631.7m (2.3bn Qatar Riyal) contract to build the second phase of developer Msheireb's $5.5bn Downtown Doha project.
The contract involves construction of a series of ten buildings ranging in height from two to nineteen storeys, with four-to-five basement levels below.
In total, the buildings will contain around 370,000m2 of space.

He added: "We very much look forward to contributing to the continued development of Downtown Doha."
Arabtec is currently on site with a number of important projects in the region including the $3bn Midfield Terminal Building at Abu Dhabi Airport, Nation Towers in Abu Dhabi, the expansion of Dubai International Airport's terminal 2, the ABG Tower at Bahrain Bay and the World Trade Centre project in Downtown Doha.
Last week, Msheireb announced that it had granted a contract to build the raft foundations for the third phase of Downtown Doha to local contractor HBK. Phase three involves building a 45,500m2 raft slab for a series of 15 new buildings containing 150,000m2 of space.
