Water and Electricity Minister Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Husain signed 26 contracts covering several water and sewage projects, in various parts of the Kingdom, worth more than SR 735 million ($196 million), Saudi Press Agency reported.
The contracts include the expansion of water projects in Quriyyat town and nearby villages in the Jouf Region, at the cost of SR 349.4 million, as well as the expansion of the water purification plant in Quaiyyah Province, Riyadh Region, at the cost of SR 86.6 million. In addition, the signed agreements include the completion of a sanitary project in Hail town, worth SR 56.7 million, and the implementation of a connection line between the final collection point and the old Bisha dam, at the cost of SR 37.2 million.
Furthermore, the contracts also include the implementation of water networks in Khamis Mushait, Asir Region, at the cost of SR 36.5 million, the development of water reservoirs in Khobar and Dammam, in the Eastern Region (SR 20.3 million), the implementation of water networks in Turiyyif, Northern Border Region (SR 19.7 million), and the procurement and installation of mechanical and electric works in pumping stations in Abha and Khamis Mushait, in Asir Region (SR 15 million).
Other contracts signed by the minister include, a project for the detection and treatment of water leakages in water networks in Ahsa and Bgaig towns (phase 6) at the cost of SR 15 million, in addition to similar water leakage detection and treatment works in Dammam and Khobar (phase 6) as well as in Qatif, Ras Tanura and Jubail, at the cost of SR 13 million and SR 11 million respectively.
