The country’s population has breached the 1.8 million-mark and now stands at more than 1.84 million (1,844,276). The increase in the population has been slightly over 143,000 in a year since September-end 2011.
The population until September 30 last year stood at a little over 1.7 million (1,701,219). Figures released by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) suggest that the male component of the population was 1.36 million, while females totaled 480,588.
The QSA figures show that there has been an increase of more than a 100,000 in the population of men while women’s numbers have gone up by 42,000 in a year since September-end of 2011.
Men totaled 1.26 million until September-end last year while females totaled 438,000. It is understood from the statistics that the increased women’s population includes both single workers and housewives, while most of the men who have arrived in the country over the past year seem to be single workers.
The QSA said these (1.84 million) are preliminary figures and represent the number of persons of all ages — including nationals and expatriates — within the country as on September 30 this year.
The population figure does not include those nationals or expatriates who were outside of the country as on September 30, the QSA said.
