A landmark integrated medical tourism project currently under development in Salalah has been officially named as the 'International Medical City' (IMC). The announcement was made by Dr Abdullah al Joaib, founder and president of Apex Medical Group (AMG), following a decision by AMG's board of directors to officially brand the $1 billion development as IMC.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr Al Joaib said the broad agreement that the project should be named 'International Medical City (IMC)' is an "appropriate reflection of both the global standard of medical excellence and the holistic solution that the IMC will offer in terms of tertiary healthcare, organ transplantation, diagnostic and well-being of its patients."
This 800,000 square meter development is located just east of Salalah overlooking the serene waters of the Indian Ocean.
Includes a 530-bed multispecialty tertiary care hospital, a modern organ transplant center of excellence, a state of the art diagnostic center, healthcare resort, wellness center, luxury hotel and a purpose built research and development complex
The IMC facilities will include a 530-bed multispecialty tertiary care hospital, a modern organ transplant center of excellence, a state of the art diagnostic center, healthcare resort, wellness center, luxury hotel and a purpose built research and development complex. The IMC is envisioned as a medical utopia, offering expert services that patients from the GCC usually have to travel as far as Europe and the US for, in a picturesque environment conducive to healing and wellness.
This healthcare infrastructure development project will offer excellent employment opportunities to Omani nationals and is set to position Oman as a center for medical tourism and a benchmark of medical excellence around the MENA region.
