Based on the request of the Ministry of Energy and Water, the Lebanese Government approved a new plan for the installation of Solar PV street lighting systems in all regions of Lebanon. The plan has a total budget of 2 Million USD with an expected national bid for the purchase of PV street lighting to be launched soon. This action is the fourth phase in the national strategy for public street lighting systems (initiative 5 of the NEEAP). The first phase included raising awareness on the good maintenance of public street lighting systems; the second phase included the distribution of photocells and timers to municipalities; and the third phase included the upgrade of technical specifications.
