This is the eighth consecutive year that Italy takes part in Project Lebanon, “an appointment that we consider unmissable for any company interested in the construction market, in Lebanon and in the
Middle East as well. An event that we will therefore continue to support and promote among the
Italian industries related to this sector,” said Marina Giangrande, Director of the Italian Trade Commission-ICE.
This year the Italian Pavilion will host 12 exhibitors, represented by 42 delegates, on a space of
144 square meters. This is a significant and qualified presence of Italian companies, all of them approaching Lebanon for the first time. “We are particularly pleased that, despite of the slowdown of the economy in Italy on one side and the strong competition from new emerging markets on the other, we can present a number of companies that do not have a presence here yet and show interest and confidence in the opportunities offered by Lebanon,” said Giangrande.
The Italian Embassy and HE the Ambassador, Giuseppe Morabito, have once again given all their support and have cooperated fully for the success of this initiative.
Italian exhibits cover a wide range of building technologies and services, construction equipment and machineries including: diesel and generating sets, metallurgical equipment, elevators and escalators as well as semi-finished and finished products such as doors & windows, curtains & shutters, pumps, parquet & flooring, marble & stone, plumbing & sanitary ware.
“Within the Italian Pavilion we will have a 27 square meters "ITALIA Meeting Point" hosting the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Trade Commission – ICE, to ensure adequate assistance to Lebanese visitors as well as logistical support to Italian exhibitors,” noted Giangrande. At the “ITALIA Meeting Point” this year we will project some DVDs on Expo 2015, which will take place in Milan between the 1st and the 31st of May 2015. As you already know, the theme of the Expo is “Feeding the Planet Energy for Life”: the main focus of the EXPO is on problems of nutrition and the correct use of our resources. However, other “collateral” themes such as the respect of the environment and the use of technological innovations to preserve our planet, will play an important part and are strictly connected to the construction world,” Giangrande explained.
“We also welcome the Rebuild Syria Forum, which IFP will organize during this edition of Project
Lebanon. We believe it is an important opportunity to meet selected potential Syrian counterparts in preparation for the foreseen re-construction process of Syria. We also think that it is particularly important to promote a forward looking perspective on the Syrian market.”
To support the Italian participation in Project Lebanon, the Italian Trade Commission – ICE has planned an advertisement campaign covering the major local media as well as direct marketing actions, targeting more than 2,000 businessmen and opinion leaders in the Lebanese building and construction industry.
