The 11-year period during which the joint Bulgarian-Egyptian Intergovernmental Commission did not hold sessions was too long. I believe that this commission for economic cooperation is an important platform and instrument for developing and expanding cooperation between Bulgaria and Egypt in all areas, said Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forests Rumen Porodzanov at the first session of the commission, which is taking place in Sofia. Minister Porodzanov is a co-chair on the Bulgarian side. This was announced by the press office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
“Despite the constant increase in the trade between Bulgaria and Egypt in recent years, it does not correspond to the potential and capabilities of the two countries,” the minister said.
The main products of export to Egypt by the end of 2017 were petroleum oils, refined copper and alloys, wheat, maize, raw or processed tobacco.
“The most promising areas of bilateral economic cooperation at this stage should be energy, transport, communications, food industry, agriculture and tourism,” said Dr. Sahar Nasr, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation.
