Minister of Industry, Wael Abou Faour, met on Thursday with the economic and commercial attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon, Deng Hui, tackling with her the participation of Chinese enterprises in the financing and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the new industrial zones to be established.
Minister Abou Faour stressed the “importance of China’s contribution to these projects, which we hope to start early next year.” He encouraged the owners of Chinese companies to invest in Lebanon through the establishment of their production plants, and the adoption of Lebanon as a platform for industrial ties with the Arab countries, the Middle East and North Africa so as to promote the re-activated Silk Road.
“We look forward to the best relations with China, which is ranked first in the volume of Lebanese exchange with foreign countries. (…) Since we are keen on turning our economy into a productive one, we are encouraging Chinese businessmen to invest in factories in Lebanon. They can invest directly or in partnership with Lebanese persons. There are huge investment opportunities with China,” the minister stressed.

It is a good step to revive the Lebanese Industry. I recommend the government to take serious steps to realize this plan, which also create jobs for Lebanese nationals., not forgetting the coming new industrial projects related to the petroleum products which the raw material will be pure Lebanese. Even dough some money will go to the pockets of some privileged people, at the end of the day the profit will come to the government and to the people equally.
