Qatar Chamber has hosted a visiting trade Jordanian trade delegation, headed by Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Commerce Nael Al Kabariti. Speaking on the occasion, Qatar Chamber’s Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani said that Qatar and Jordan enjoy historic, deep relations. These fraternal relations have been significantly developed with the past few years thanks to both countries’ leadership support, he said.
The meeting was attended by many QC board members and businessmen from both countries. The Qatari-Jordanian Business Forum discussed ways of enhancing economic and trade cooperation between both sides, as well as activating mutual investments and developing trade exchanges between both countries.
Sheikh Khalifa noted that these robust relations opened the door for business sectors to further cooperate to achieve a genuine economic partnership that fulfills both countries’ aspirations.
He underscored the importance of activating the Qatar-Jordan Business Council which plays a key role in promoting cooperation between businessmen, enhancing mutual investments and developing trade exchange between both countries. Trade between Qatar and Jordan grew from QR 1.1bn in 2017 to QR 1.3bn last year, he said, expressing his hope that both sides could increase their trade to cope with the potentials available in both sides.
Sheikh Khalifa assured that the Qatari private sector is eager to strengthen cooperation and partnership with its Jordanian counterpart in all economic sectors, noting that there existed 175 new Jordanian companies entered into the Qatari market during the first nine months of 2019.
There are about 1725 Qatari-Jordan companies operating in Qatar in 2019 compared to 1550 companies in 2018, he added.
Sheikh Khalifa announced that Qatar Chamber will organize a business visit to Jordan in the near future to review trade cooperation.
On his part, Nael Al Kabariti expressed his thanks to the Wise Leadership and the people of Qatar for their distinguished relations with Jordan and for Qatar’s efforts in enhancing cooperation relations with his country.
Al Kabariti stressed the importance of activating the joint Qatari-Jordanian Business Council, which will contribute to enhancing communication between business owners from both sides and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between them. He also highlighted the importance of holding an exhibition for Jordanian products to help inform Qataris on the Jordanian product.
Ali Al-Yafei, from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, made a presentation on the investment opportunities in Qatar entitled “Invest in Qatar” which touched on the investment climate in the country and the most important investment incentives offered by the government.
