Supported by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, the first day of Air Quality and Noise Control UAE 2015 Conference has successfully ended. Held at the Westin Golf Resort and SPA, Abu Dhabi, this event focuses on air quality improvement and noise reduction to promote environmental health and support sustainable urban development across the UAE.
Bringing together key players across the air quality and environmental industry’s value chain, attendees at Air Quality and Noise Control were representing organizations such as UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, UAE Municipalities, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Masdar, UNDP, NILU and Arup.
A large number of exciting presentations were delivered today among which we can mention: “Reviewing the updates on the development of legislation and policies in the area of air quality” by Fahad Hareb from the Ministry of Environment and Water, “In situ and satellite observations for the monitoring of air quality in the UAE” by Dr. Marouane Temimi, from Masdar, a case study on air quality in Abu Dhabi by Ruqaya Mohamed from Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, and a panel discussion on “Streamlining coordination of stakeholders to deliver UAE’s air quality strategy”.
The response to this event was hugely positive as delegates and sponsors enjoyed the high quality of the speaker panel as well as the opportunities to network with the industry’s key decision makers. “A great conference” stated an EHS specialist from the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, “A targeted subject with a good selection of speakers” said the General Manager of GACS Arabia, while a Senior Environmental Engineer from Al Futtaim Group found it “an excellent event to understand the current situation of air quality a noise monitoring”.
Air Quality and Noise Control UAE – Day 1 ended with a workshop on “Environmental noise assessment and mitigation” delivered by Piotr Gaudibert from Bruitparif and focusing on solutions to decrease noise in urban areas.
Air Quality and Noise Control UAE – Day 2 will host speakers from Health Authority Abu Dhabi – HAAD, NILU, UNDP, Politecnico di Milano, Zayed University, Aecom, Gannett Fleming Inc., Masdar and Arup, and will be discussing the Evolution of air quality in the UAE and the best practices of enhancing it along with a panel discussion and workshop not to be missed!
