Swiss firm to build gas condensate processing plant at Saih Nihayda field
Switzerland’s ABB has won a contract worth more than $100m to build a gas condensate processing plant at Saih Nihayda in Oman, for state operator Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The deal covers the engineering, procurement and construction of a plant in the Ash-Sharqiyah region of north-east Oman with a capacity to process 4,500 cubic metres of condensate a day.
The new plant will be used as a backup for the existing central processing plant to maintain gas production from the Saih Nihayda field.
In addition to the EPC services, ABB will supply power equipment such as switchgear, power transformers, the electrical control system, as well as continuous emission monitoring systems and other analytical instrumentation.
PDO is 60 per cent owned by the government of Oman, with 34 per cent owned by UK/Dutch Shell Group, 4 per cent by France’s Total and 2 per cent by Portugal’s Partex.
