Abu Dhabi-based developer Sorouh Real Estate has installed the final section of the penthouse bridge at its Gate Towers project on the Shams Abu Dhabi on Al Reem Island, it was announced.At 65-floors high, it is the world’s highest penthouse bridge structure for a residential development.
The final section of the bridge was elevated 245m and lifted into its final position over the course of four days and stretches across all three Gate Towers.
“Lifting the penthouse bridge at the Gate Towers required world-leading expert capabilities. Abu Dhabi’s skyline is changing fast, with landmark developments such as the Sun and Sky Towers and the Gate Towers offering the high-quality, modern facilities that residents and businesses are demanding,” said Abubaker Seddiq Al Khouri, managing director of Sorouh.
Every room of the 16 penthouse apartments within the bridge structure capping the Gate Towers will comprise two stories each and five will feature an enclosed garden area spanning between the towers and an exclusive view down from an elliptical opening.
Sorouh Real Estate, which is in talks with state-backed merger with rival Aldar Properties, posted a 30 percent rise in quarterly net profit riding on revenue from government projects and higher rental income, it was announced in April.
The second largest property developer by market value in Abu Dhabi, Sorouh made a first-quarter net profit of AED83.6m (US$22.76m) compared with AED64.3m in the same period in 2011.
Quarterly revenue doubled to AED967.2m, with revenue from national housing projects generating AED62m in gross profit for the quarter. The developer said it was on track to reach its target of AED500m of recurring income by 2014.
